About Concert Bites

Concert Bites was founded in January 2005 by soprano Eleanor Rastall. It was originally intended to provide a platform for new music and young musicians just starting their professional careers.

From a fortnightly lunchtime recital series in St Magnus the Martyr, Concert Bites grew over the years but maintained its original ethos: to provide a well-organised, hassle-free platform for the performers, and a welcoming, relaxed atmosphere for the audience: homemade cake was always a special feature of the post-concert refreshments.

Concert Bites also initiated and organised one-off events. These included:

  • the World Premiere of It was only the Angels who Sang by Joseph Atkins and Adam Goodyer, in St Martin-in-the-Fields. This performance followed on from the world famous Blessing of the Crib in Trafalgar Square, and contributed to St Martin-in-the-Fields’ £13m building project

  • the Premiere of music by John Milton senior in a performance with Trio Literati: Father and Son: The Miltons of Bread St. A celebration of the relationship between the poet John Milton and his composer father in St Giles Cripplegate, where both are buried.

  • a lecture-recital on Mozart’s Don Giovanni for the Hull Literary and Philosophical Society

  • a Lenten Music Festival in Hinde Street Methodist Church

  • Organisation and publicity for concert performances with Clemens Non Papa Consort

Concert Bites now primarily exists to provide information about Eleanor’s concerts and events. To contact Eleanor, or to join the mailing list, please contact enquiries@concertbites.co.uk.
