Who is The Oakshott Principle?
The co-founder and main coach is actor and voice coach Jane Oakshott BA, MA, LAMDA(Gold).
She set up the consultancy with Maggie Mash in 1992.
The Oakshott Principle offers both individual coaching and group workshops in most aspects of personal communication skills, working through physical exercises (eg breath control)to build skills and confidence.
The consultancy has a wide clientele from the professions, business and the arts.
Oakshott Principle teaching is always based on individual need, and is both practical and interactive -- exercises, practice, feedback .... and the discussion of basic principles.
Jane Oakshott directs the Leeds-based theatre company Trio Literati; she lectures regularly on acting at the National Museum for Photography, Film & Television, Bradford, and is a member and Trustee of the Voice Care Network UK; since 2000 she has run Personal Communication Skills Workshops at the Staff and Departmental Development Unit of Leeds University; and is an accredited trainer for the Law Society of England and Wales. She was appointed MBE in the 2008 New Year Honours list for her services to drama.
