Terramundi Theatre was formed in 1997 with the aim of providing high quality participatory arts and environmental based theatre in schools and with young people in non-school settings. Central to Terramundi’s vision is to excite and inspire wonder in young people about their environment rather than to educate. Terramundi is a facilitatory theatre company: we facilitate communities into making their own performances rather than perform ourselves.

One of the main hall marks of Terramundi’s work is that of a ‘low tech’ approach. This is partly in order to reduce our potential environmental impact but also to try and make theatre that has an inspiring and above all accessible simplicity. Props and puppets are made from recycled and sustainable resources such as wood, cardboard, newspaper, bamboo. This low tech approach includes the use of shadow puppets, live sound effects, storytelling, singing, masks and participatory physical theatre.
Since its inception in 1997, Terramundi has worked with a variety of partners including Scottish Natural Heritage, National Trust for Scotland, Solway Heritage, Dumfries and Galloway Museum’s Service, Dumfries and Galloway Arts Association and in many schools across Dumfries and Galloway.

Anne Errington
After studying for a BA in Education, Anne worked for 5 year using drama in community settings, in Newcastle and London. An original member of the Edinburgh mime group Mimage, Anne’s interest then took her to study at the Jacque Le Coq School of Mime and Movement in Paris and then to the Laban School of Dance and Drama where she received an MA in Movement Analysis and Therapy. Since then Anne has studied movement and mime with Phillipe Gaulier, Monica Pagneaux, Claire Heggen and Enrique Prahdo. She was a member of The Vervain Theatre Company in London.
Anne’s work is extensive and varied: she has worked in Romanian orphanages, in Indiana on Purdhue University's courses for children of high IQs, as a movement specialist in children's centre in West Lafayette and as a storyteller and play therapist in a wide variety of settings across Scotland. Anne is a registered storyteller with the Scottish Storytelling Centre, Edinburgh.
