My name is Alex Nahamya. I am 22 years old.
Last year I passed my A-Levels at High School. I achieved 2 passes in Biology and Chemistry and an accreditation in Mathematics.
These A-level grades make me eligible to go to University, and my first choice would be to train to become a clinical officer (a person who works diagnosing and treating patients, but who is not a doctor). I have gained a place at Kabale Institute of Health Science on a Clinical Officer training course. The training takes 3 years and the fees are 1.3 million Ugandan Shillings per semester (this is about £69 per month). Because of these fees I am unable to take up my place.
I am currently working as a volunteer at Bwindi Community Health Centre. I have lived in Bwindi all my life and my father was the local Chief for 20 years. My dream is to find the support to do the training so that I can come back to work at the Health Centre in my local community for many years.
