At Christmas be merry! York's Tudor town band and singer Deborah Catterall
take up this Elizabethan exhortation to celebrate the festive season, with a
lively programme of English medieval and renaissance music. Beautiful
singing of ancient carols accompanied by an extensive array of period
instruments ranging from harp, lute and fiddle to hurdy-gurdy, shawms,
curtal and bagpipes, not to mention crumhorn, sackbut and recorders of many
different sizes, all engagingly evoking the Christmas of a bygone age.
