Playford Plus is a recording of
seventeenth-century English music played on
period instruments, re-released in memoriam
following the sad death of one of their
members, Ian Richardson. Many of the tracks
are suitable for dancing.
This recording makes no apologies for
what it is – five guys having great fun playing
some cracking tunes on instruments that
originated before the age of refined orchestral
music, as you would expect from a CD whose
first track is played by a ‘Noyse of shawms’.
Don’t be fooled though – these guys know
what they’re doing.Original, celebratory, and
enlightening.
